Residents Reminisce with Classic Car Show

For many people, classic cars represent pivotal life moments: meeting their future spouse, making their first big purchase, high school football games, school dances, turning sixteen, and cross-country road trips. A classic car is often a vessel for fond memories, a time machine that transports us back to a distant stage in life. A vintage car is much more than just a collector’s item—these cars are often tangible symbols of happiness, of love, of success and of new beginnings.

We recently held our third vintage car show at Grand Oaks of Jensen Beach. More than ten classic cars were presented at the event by local antique car owners throughout Martin County, including VNA of Florida and Grand Oaks CEO, Don Crow. Many of our residents owned classic cars as young adults—the cars displayed brought back treasured memories of another era. Car owners were happy to share their own stories about why they chose their vintage cars with both residents and their families.

“I bought this car for $150 when I was sixteen years old,” one resident remarked as he studied a vintage Ford. “The car show is just a feel-good moment for everyone, there are smiles all around,” commented Jensen Beach’s activities manager, Esther Churchey, “We get to relive past memories with residents and make new ones all at the same time. It’s just a happy day for everyone involved.”
