Alzheimer’s Care, at Grand Oaks and at Home

Posted on January 17, 2017 · Posted in Grand Oaks

Alzheimer’s care is an important aspect of the modern healthcare system. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there was an estimated 5.4 million Americans of varying ages with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016. As the number of Americans afflicted by this disease increases, it becomes indispensable that communities provide options for Alzheimer’s care.

At both Grand Oaks of Palm City and Grand Oaks of Jensen Beach, we offer highly specialized Memory Care Centers for those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia. Our staff members are certified in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders (ADRD), Level 1 and Level 2 and implement an Activity Focused Care Plan to highlight daily activities to increase response and involvement with our Memory Care residents. Staff members are also given a consistent schedule to provide residents with familiarity. To further provide support and stability, our Memory Care Centers offer residents amenities such as:

  • Quiet room
  • Indoor walking path
  • Home-like living room
  • Secured courtyard garden and walking path
  • Personalized memory boxes to identify each resident’s suite

For those looking to move a loved one into one of our Memory Care Centers, we use a pre-screening assessment process which assists us in establishing a potential resident’s orientation to time and place, as well as functional abilities.
